Teen Mom: Season 3, Episode 2

Amber: Suicide?
The episode starts off with Gary talking to 911 about Amber killing herself.  She wants to hang herself and wanted Gary to call so the police could find her body in the garage.  Cut to Gary holding their baby, and they both look sad.  We’re then fast-forwarded to “Seasons: Recovery Center”, where Amber talks about being put on suicide watch for 72 hours.  She has been at Seasons for 12 days. The counselor is talking about readjusting her meds and talks about Amber getting emotional.  She is very angry and confused.  She is giving this face like, “you don’t know what I’m talking about?” and then some Amber dramatics, her closing her eyes and leaning her head back.  She feels like a piece of shit mom, all she could think of is Leah, but she just wanted to go.  The counselor tells her, “If you really wanted to go, you’d be gone. You’re supposed to be on this planet for a reason.”

Contributor Thoughts:  Just another drastic ploy at trying to get some attention on herself.  Hopefully this will help make her a better person.

Catelynn: Preparing for New York
Catelynn and Tyler talk to Teresa, their daughters adoptive mom.  They talk about having breakfast in New York.  The two talk about being nervous last birthday.  They talk about it getting better and better.  There lives have changed so much in two years because of one decision.

Contributor Thoughts:  Everyone lives change in two years, regardless if you have a kid or not.  I do believe these two made a great choice in giving her daughter up for adoption, because seriously, do more than a couple people need to deal with Butch?

Maci: Teaching Bentley to ride a bike
Starts with Maci and Kyle teaching Bentley to ride a bike.  Maci calls Ryan, Bentley’s dad, to ask if he can pick up Bentley at 11 tomorrow.  He said he can’t pick him up that early and Maci goes and gives the low-blow about him not having a job so she didn’t think it’d be a problem.  They start arguing and she hangs up on him.  Kind of a classic.

Contributor Thoughts: Maci has to be an awful partner to be with, she always hits for the lowest point.  I doubt she ever stays married for an extended amount of time.  They need to get Bentley around other kids because he is completely dependent on Kyle and his mom to do everything with him.  He still has a pacifier.

Farrah: Packing up for the move
Farrah is finishing packing and her mom watches Sophia.  She uses the most annoying baby voice I have ever heard.  Farrah tells Michael that he is going to pack her U-Haul and he is going to drive down to Florida by himself while she stays in Iowa.   She will fly down to meet him.  Farrah lectures being depressed around Sophia.  Michael tries to give some wisdom, but Farrah flips out on him.  She is a “big kid now.”
Contributor Thoughts:  This is why people hate Farrah, she snaps for no reason especially towards the people that love and help her the most.  Obviously something happened in the past, but you don’t treat people like that.

Ryan: Eating a Burger
A rare look into the life of one of the men in the show.  Ryan is eating burgers with some friends, and he talks about quitting his job to enroll in college.  He gets advice from his friends.  Ryan tells his version of the conversation with Maci.  He talks about how he told her he needs to sign up for school and stuff, but he never mentioned that.  They talk about Maci’s speaking arrangement at a high school and criticizes how she has a live in boyfriend.  Kyle can apparently get away with more since he is the current boyfriend.

Contributor Thoughts:  It’s kind of funny to see the two different versions of a conversation.  I can see both points of the argument.

Farrah: Moving Day
Farrah calls her, her dad, but yet never calls him dad to his face.  Michael pretty much does all of the loading, while Farrah helps a little bit.  She can’t hurt her hands, she’s not a hand model, and she’s going to be a chef.  They go for the awkward high five at the end of the packing.  Farrah walks Sophia around the house to say bye-bye to every room.  Michael leaves and hits the sign.

Contributor Thoughts:  Michael is a hell of a packer.

Amber: Calling Home
Amber calls Gary to talk to Leah.  They make small talk and then Amber wants to talk to Leah.  Leah doesn’t want to talk to Amber, she’s busy with her car.  Amber looks disappointed and for once, speechless.  They say their love you, and hang up.

Contributor Thoughts:  I do feel for Amber in that situation, that would hurt to not being able to talk to your daughter when you need her.  Although, Leah is only 2.

Catelynn: Going to New York
Catelynn and Tyler go to New York and first thought is, who paid for this hotel?  The show or Teresa?  Catelynn gets a text from her mom and it’s positive.  This is their second visit to see Carly and they’re wondering if they’ll cry afterwards.

Contributor Thoughts: I’m so bored of this story line.  They’re sweet kids, but really, this is not good television.

Amber: Rehab
Amber is talking to Todd (Grief Conselor) about holding in her anger.  Nobody listens to her, if they did what would they say?  “Help me” replies Amber.  The counselor asks Amber to close her eyes and visualize her mom and dad, but Amber won’t do it.  They put her through nothing but pain and she is pissed off about them fighting.  Her brother once asked them to please stop and her dad’s reply was, “Fuck you.”  Amber starts crying when they bring up her daughter.  “My daughter” Amber replies in an annoying cry.  She misses her daughter, a lot of “F-bombs” being dropped with Amber.

Contributor Thoughts:  First off, this girl is full of shit.  Her mom and dad fought all the time, but anytime she is with Gary, she’s dropping f-bombs and yelling.  This girl has no idea that she is putting her daughter through the same stuff she went through.  On a lighter note, how do get a piercing out of your face?  This girl has piercings in her nose, both sides of her face near her eyes, a few in each ear and then one on each hand.  Trashy anyone?

Farrah: Dinner with Mom
Farrah, her mom, and her daughter Sophia are eating dinner on a patio.  “No monster noises” is an awesome quote.  Farrah’s mom orders some wine that is named Farrah wine.  She just has to try it since her daughter is Farrah.  The waiter has no idea where the wine is from.  They talk about when her plane leaves.  This is the first time that Sophia will be away from Farrah’s mom and half of her is being ripped away.  She is “grieving” which Farrah replies that she needs to go to counseling if she doesn’t know the difference between grieving and moving.  When asked what the mom thought of the wine, she says, “It’s sorta vinegary.”  Classic Farrah mom quote, she has quite a few really.

Contributor Thoughts:  I’m not a huge Farrah fan, but I’m with her on this one.  Sure, Farrah’s mom is going to be sad to be ripped away from Sophia and Sophia will be sad too, but won’t Sophia be more torn apart about being away from her mom?  Farrah is very defensive, I wish I could of seen this relationship starting in middle school.  I think we’d have a good idea about her bitterness or not.

Amber:  Boxing with trainer
Does she ever wash those sweat pants?  They talk about why she is at rehab, and it’s because of court mandated.  She tells the trainer she tried to kill herself, way to throw that around, what a good thing to be proud of!    She doesn’t want to feel pain.  They talk about Leah and how she likes to be a mom.  The trainer said her face lit up and it’s the first time he’s seen her smile.  He says that she needs longer in rehab, but she misses her daughter.  They continue boxing and she said she’s sad.

Contributor Thoughts: This girl would walk out of rehab right now if she could.  I believe she really doesn’t want to get better.  If she truly wanted to, she would try to mellow out, it seems like a relaxing place.  Anyone who drops that many f-bombs is still angry.

Maci: Going to airport
Kyle wants Macy to call Ryan to make sure that he is picking Bentley up from daycare.  They begin to get in a fight, where Kyle is getting on her nerves.  Maci calls him a baby and he calls her an idiot.  “When are you going to stop calling me an idiot?” Maci asks.  “I guess when you stop being one” replies Kyle.  “You can go home if you’re going to act like that,” Maci then says.  Kyle packs up his stuff to go to his parent’s house.   Bentley doesn’t want him to leave, but she doesn’t make an effort.

Contributor Thoughts:  Maci is being an idiot on this one.  She needs to think about her kid first and not about being mad at Ryan.  Obviously Ryan is a tool and a douche, but he’s a decent dad.  Maci needs to confirm those plans.  Bentley loves Kyle by the way; it’s actually quite sweet.

Maci: Calling Kyle
Maci is trying to call Kyle, but wants Bentley to ask for him to come back.  Kyle doesn’t answer his phone.  She said she isn’t going to say sorry.  Maci caves in and won’t drop Bentley off at day care.  He will go to her mom’s house and then Maci lets Ryan know where he’ll be.  She tries Kyle again, but he still doesn’t pick up his phone.

Contributor Thoughts:  Maci, you done fucked up girl.

Farrah:  Travel to a Cemetery
Farrah takes Sophia to Derek’s grave, Sophia’s biological father.  “Let’s go see Daddy” Farrah says as she drives away.

Contributor Thoughts:  I think it’s kind of creepy.

Catelynn:  The Visit
Catelynn and Tyler meet up to see their daughter, but I guess they don’t allow her to be filmed now so it’s just a picture montage.  Everyone looks pretty happy.  That little girl looks just like Tyler.

Contributor Thoughts:  You don’t really get as good of a feeling from the pictures as you did when we met her at one year.  I like their open adoption, good for everyone.

Amber: Talk with Caseworker
They talk about Amber’s feelings, which is … anger!  They talk about her detoxing, which she had been taking the meds for 2 years.  The caseworker wants her to embrace the help, and she admits she wants to stay for at least a few more days after the 30 days.  She breaks down crying because she misses Leah.  The caseworker wants to have Leah and Gary flown out there.

Contributor Thoughts:  Gary and Amber really need to have some deep counseling, they aren’t right for each other.

Farrah: Visit to Gravesite
Farrah is telling Sophia to tell Daddy that they’re going to Florida.  Farrah is having a hard time trying to get Sophia to stay there and focus.  Sophia walks away and Farrah is talking to the grave marker.
Contributor Thoughts: I’m not going to blog too much about this, because this guy apparently treated her like shit when he was alive.  People like to imagine people are greater then they really are, I guess it carries on after death too.  DEEP THOUGHT!  That baby doesn’t need a pacifier anymore either.

Amber: Phone call home
Gary gets a phone call from Amber’s caseworker to invite him to come out and get a therapeutic experience.  It’ll need to be a couple of weeks since Gary needs to petition the court for Leah to come out, since she can’t be around Gary and Amber at the same time.  Amber walks up, and Amber gets to talk to Leah.  “I go poopy in the potty” is Leah’s classic line of the show.

Contributor Thought: It was good for Amber to get to talk to Leah.  I think it’s good that Gary and Amber will get to talk but it’s going to need to be extended over time for it to work.  That’s my BS in Childhood Psychology talking there.

Maci: Kyle returns
Kyle comes over after Maci returns.  They talk about their fight, he kind of apologizes, and at least tries not to directly apologize for calling her an idiot.  He finally apologizes for calling her an idiot.  She compares him to Ryan, which is a low blow (once again).  Kyle asks for a hug, she refuses, and then he slaps her.  He calls her an idiot as a joke, but it was pretty funny.

Contributor Thoughts: when a guy says he’s sorry, just accept the apology.  It’s hard enough to say sorry, but to get a lecture about it makes it worse.

Catelynn: Last Day of Visit
They say goodbye to Carly, more montage of pictures.  After Carly says goodbye, they sit on a stoop and cry about Carly.

Contributor Thought:  I’m not going to lie; I fast-forwarded through that part.  I know it has to be hard; I just don’t want to see what they talk about every week.

  1. Well said. Farrah sucks. Want to slap her every time she snaps at her parents. She truly makes some boneheaded decisions. Ugh annoying! Awful cryer too!

Gary and Amber need to call it a day. Leah doesn't need that. And Amber needs to lay off the stud piercings. Noticed she has one in her upper chest/collar region now. Super trashy!

Good to see Tyler and Catelynn graduating. Their story has run its course, but shows us that not all teen parents have to give up their lives. Tyler got a new Cadillac to match his ever changing array of douchebag sunglasses.

Finally Maci needs to quit being an idiot and realize that not many guys will put up with her shit and take care of Bentley too. Kyle can do both and he does it pretty well. She needs to hang on to him for dear life. Although I don't know how he does it. She's pretty stubborn.

Looking forward to the rest of the season!
